Description: The presenters will cover the latest research undertaken by the Individual Life Experience Committee (ILEC). With several years of very robust individual life insurance experience data accumulated through the mandatory Statistical Agent data calls, this vast amount of data allows for various deeper dives into specific segments of business, such as large face amount, older age or juvenile. Speakers will cover studies the committee is currently involved in, future planned efforts, and results from a variety of sub-segments of business. Attendees will learn about emerging statistical techniques in scrubbing data, more refined quintile-grouped data segments, and interesting ways of conceptualizing how A/E results have changed from year to year. Description: This article provides encourages participation in and provides instructions for participation in the 2010 CLICE study. The objective of the 2010 study is to provide useful unit expense benchmark information to actuaries and their managements from which to assess their own unit expense performance, while expanding the level of contributions. In addition, CLICE expects the results to be useful in enhancing the generation of the Generally Recognized Expense Table GRET in the U.S. used by some companies to demonstrate compliance with the NAIC model sales illustration regulation.

Description: Discuss population mortality improvement trends in the U.S. This will include analysis of cause of death data and trends in mortality pre-pandemic and during the pandemic. We will also discuss ways to think about translating population mortality improvement to an insured population.Learning outcomes includea better understanding of the drivers of recent mortality improvement and insights on how to create a company view on mortality improvement.

As mortality experience will (hopefully) be slow to emerge, it is pivotal that we look at alternative methods of monitoring early performance. From random hold outs, to post-issue APS's, and post-issue prescription profiles, explore popular monitoring techniques and lessons learned so far. Focus on confusion matrices that provide an early indication of mortality slippage relative to fluid-based underwriting decisions. Finally, explore statistical methods to determine what constitutes credibility and identify opportunities to think about mortality slippage more robustly.
